So you have decided that now is the time to pursue that project you have been thinking about. You know you want to hire a company to help you achieve these dreams, but you aren’t sure what the process would be like.
We know from experience that planning and preparing on any project is just as important as the construction work. Here at JLS Consulting and Contracting, designing a space for our customers is one of the best parts of our job! There are many steps that we take in our pre-construction phase to get all the details just right.
In our first meeting, we would like to get to know you! We want to hear all about your style and vision for the project. Any inspiration materials or ideas are welcome!. We also discuss your ideal budget range. At the end of our meeting we will sign an agreement and collect a retainer to begin the design process.
We then take measurements and photographs of the space we will be working on. These details allow us to begin crafting a custom floor plan and 3D renderings using Computer Aided Design and Drafting software, or CAD for short. We also include carefully selected materials, such as types of building materials, tiles, flooring, paint ,and finishes. This process can take 2 to 3 weeks.
Once we have all the tiny details planned out, we can begin the engineering phase. Engineering is integral to the success of construction projects. It ensures that structures are safe, functional and built to last. Co-owner and project manager Jordan works closely with any engineers to ensure success of the project. This part of the process can take 3 to 4 weeks.
Finally, before starting the construction, we need to obtain the necessary permits for the project. This is a crucial step to ensure that your project complies with local building codes, zoning regulations, and safety standards. Permit requirements can vary, depending on the location and type of project. Obtaining these permits can take 3 to 4 weeks.
